Re: Adrenalin Magic Show (with MLP plugin)

Hi Jirka, nice site again :) A pity that you are not using l10n_lang_list for the language menu so that it would link to the current article’s rendition. I suppose it’s because of the images? I will need to do the same soon on a site I’m going to rebuild with the MLP Pack, and I’ve been thinking that it probably can be done with background images and something like text-indent: -5000px; for the list items.

Re: Adrenalin Magic Show (with MLP plugin)

I don’t use l10n_lang_list on MLP sites because some aricles are not translated in particular language and I want to visitors have always possibility to switch language.

And yes, it’s possible to done this with text-indent:-5000px, overflow:hidden and (line-height: e.g. 500px for some old browsers)… but if somebody has turn off images or something like this way, he will not see text link. So i use UL LI A SPAN, or just P A SPAN (as on this site) and span with images on backgroud has position:absolute above link. I hope it is user friendly.

Re: Adrenalin Magic Show (with MLP plugin)

Hi beztak,

another nice site!
I’m curious about the permanent link mode you are using. It’s just /title, right? I mean, each “section” (About us, The show, etc), are the articles, right?
Interesting approach to avoid the un-translatable section names…

BTW: the spanish translation… there are some phrases that sound a little awkward. But the most funny is the “Asistencia checa” on the articles menu. I think (seeing the other translations) that it should read “Asistencia técnica”.

This remembers me to a informational printed brochure a professional translator (I’m working on a few sites for translators) gave me the last week. There is the online version: Translation: getting it right. A guide to buying translations. There is a Czech version too.
Of course, this is not related at all with the design/development work, but something that may matter to the site owner.

You’re right. But it can be build like this only on small website. On a bigger site with MLP I use “section/title” by default. Maybe sometimes MLP would have use translated section in url… at least I hope… Or maybe .htaccess? But I’m not familier with it…

Edited: Just one thing… Even if the permlink mode is “title” I still have the same sections (in one section – one article) to have control in which section I am to display “active” class in menu.

Thank you, I’ve got translated documents from clients and I didn’t notice that there is a mistake. In fact site will be officially launch on Monday… so there are some untranslated phrases… We’re working on.

Interesting. I will look at it ;) Thanks again.

I’ve asked to Netcarver about adding the feature of translating the section name so URLs will look nicer (translated). By now, the request has been rejected.
Just right now, I’m experimenting on creating a MLP site, and having renditions asigned to different sections (“translated” sections). Of course, this duplicates the amount of sections, but so far, the initial tests have worked. At least, on a bilingual site.

I tried the same but the more bigger website you have the less user friendly administration is. Maybe gbp_permanent_links would help but I didn’t try it together with MLP.
