Well-designed newspaper websites
Most newspaper websites are cluttered and lack focus. Does anyone know of some examples of newspaper websites that follow good design principles? It doesn’t matter if they’re large or small.

Washington Times comes to mind, used to be less than average but now much improved after a recent face lift.

Might be blasphemy to mention these here.
I’ve never used them – just bookmarked them as good template ideas.
They are both wordpress “news” themes – [Cringe]

Those WordPress themes are actually quite nice. They’re good examples of news sites as envisioned by people from outside the industry. We tend to be insular so it’s great to see a fresh take. I also really like the innovation displayed in the Washington Times site.

The German online newspaper Spiegel Online is my favourite layout.

I also like the new york times website for adopting the paper edition style to the web – it just lures you in. Great stuff! I like The New Yorker site for similar reasons. Type and layout – it’s all a newspaper needs!
Does anybody know what CMS these sites use? Or are they custom built solutions?
