Re: Does Textpattern Fight the Smears?

As fascinating as it is to note that pols of both persuasions continue to use TXP for their websites, I suggest that we keep political opinion totally removed from this forum. I doubt that this campaign or any other has made a donation to any of the TXP or plug-in devs.

Re: Does Textpattern Fight the Smears?

I am a plugin dev. Note my tag.

Also, see that mu there? And see that my user ID is #37? And see that my name was listed as fixing a bug in txp before the 4.0.5 version was released?

Re: Does Textpattern Fight the Smears?

Taker’ easy gentlemen. This could go south real quick. ;)

If that site uses TXP, then it is certainly welcomed to be posted here in the “let’s see yours then” forum.

Politics aside – it’s a well done site and a pretty high-profile use of Textpattern.

On the other hand – if it was posted to make a statement about personal politics – then it’s probably not appropriate.

It’s definitely running TXP. Seems fine to be posted here to me – and I’m voting for H. Ross Perot.

Walker, were you involved in the dev?

Re: Does Textpattern Fight the Smears?

I built the thing.

  1. one hack to txp 4.0.7
  2. one custom plugin
  3. one edited plugin (zem_cache)

Hey Walker,

Edited my post above.

Nice work mate. 4.0.7 too – sweet.

Cheers!

Tom

Re: Does Textpattern Fight the Smears?

Walker,

My apologies, I was not clear to me when I penned my previous comment that it was you who had designed the site, I guess I didn’t read the ‘let’s see yours’ tag and so I feel a bit daft. It is certainly a well designed and beautifully executed site and you are, of course, well justified in being proud of it. I intended no slight to you and certainly not to criticise your contribution to the TXP Community. My mention of ‘contributions’ referred exclusively to a lack of financial ones from those political campaigns and politicians that use Textpattern to run their sites; AFAIK they come from both sides of the political aisle.

My objection was to an apparent injection of US National politics on the forum. Rightly or wrongly ‘Fight the Smears’ is highly politicised language in the USA at present and sadly what one man sees as a smear another tends to regard as containing a nugget of truth. Lest you think I have a dog in this hunt, I am a Brit currently living in the US and so probably as close to an impartial observer and commentator as you will find. Good luck to you in your endeavours and here’s hoping that you won’t have to make many more entries to your site.

Re: Does Textpattern Fight the Smears?

Joe,

I can see how you might have misunderstood my intentions, just know that I have been a member of this community since inception and I would never invade it with my own personal take on anything outside of Textpattern and the production of Textpattern-powered sites. I’ve rarely taken part in the Textpatter forum as it strays too far afield for me.

When I post things here they deal with Textpattern. I hope you will believe me when I say, I truly wish to not inject politics into this particular community.

Re: Does Textpattern Fight the Smears?

Great work Walker.

As a side point, (and without being too overtly political) I totally support the content of the site.

Kudos to you. BTW what does the custom plugin do?

Re: Does Textpattern Fight the Smears?

it’s a beautiful site, congratulations!
and without taking political sides, Obama has the best design I’ve ever seen in politics.

Re: Does Textpattern Fight the Smears?

I hope to, after the general election is over, make the plugin a release version…but right now there’s no docs and it hasn’t been generalized enough for my tastes.

The plugin allows us to easily attach multiple YouTube videos (with a caption for each video) to a specific article. Also, it doesn’t make you put the code into the article, it lets you use a field created by the plugin to input all that info.
