Setting markup for comments

I am trying to enable comments for my newsfeed. Every news should be commentable. The News has a form where I put the tag: <txp:comment_name_input />

I get the following error message:

Tag error: <txp:comment_name_input/> -> Textpattern Warning: tag does not exist on line 983

========

You think theres something wrong with my txp installation? As far as I know, this is the way to enable comments. If there’s something im missing out – please tell me =) im real new to textpattern.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Setting markup for comments

Is that tag in your article form? I’m not sure it is allowed there, as far as I know it’s supposed to be in a comment type form. This FAQ might help.

Re: Setting markup for comments

I was trying to create a comment-form in the form for my articles, which wasn’t really the right way to go.

I was earlier using the <txp:article_custom /> tag, and im now using <txp:article /> tag with article list, this seems to be the way to go.

So the comments are using the different comment forms and ill configure THEM, according to my needs. I guess the next task is to make the “next/previous” links to work.

Thanks for the FAQ, it explained alot.

Yep.

Re: Setting markup for comments

Thanks =)

In fact, I have been trying to fix my comment forms properly and I think im getting the hang of it. I can’t seem to make the submit button to work if you havn’t previewed your post first though. Can’t find a setting for it in the comment settings page.

Writing a comment I need to preview it before I can post it :-/ somewhat annoying.

Re: Setting markup for comments

If you want it to be disabled, then rah_comment_form can do it. The alternative protection is a public registeration and log in.

Registeration, because spam is what we hate, and with out a darn good protection, you will always get spam, more or less, if the site is foundable or someone even knows about it. But well, even registeration, captchas etc. methods fail when smarter bots join in, and that is usually when the site gets somewhat famous and valuable for spam.

Re: Setting markup for comments

Yes, spam is a bitch, but initially I don’t bother covering for spam. I just want the comments to work in a one-step way. Thanks Gocom, I will look into that plugin and see what it has to offer.

I understand txp coding for this – making us unable to skip the preview step. But it is sort of annoying still. Thanks Els for awesome FAQ again, I really need to do my research better on the FAQ front.
