Redirect hidden articles

Hi,
The website is http://dubberssportsvws.co.uk and they sell cars, but when the car is sold we change the status to hidden so cannot be mistaken as available to buy. I have thought about adding it to a category ‘sold’ so can display text ‘SOLD’ on that article, but don’t actually need it on the site anymore.

Is there a re-direct mainly for google? or will it matter to google that there are constantly new urls and then disappearing because they have ben sold? Does this make sense.

I have a message on the error page to let the user know, but i’m just worried about the google indexing aspect.

Thanks
Oliver

Re: Redirect hidden articles

Per HTTP specs, it would be advisable to use a “301 Permanently Moved” reply on a request for the original URI, accompanied with the new location. The most hassle-free method of maintaining such redirects at a large scale is Zem Redirect Pro which applies a combination of reasonable methods to guess the proper URI for a moved article and hint the visitors there.
