Mercurial hosting - Bitbucket

For the few Mercurial users out there, check out Bitbucket. It’s a new hg host, similar to Github. I’ve moved most of my plugins over there :).

Also, I’ve added a new code hosting/repo page to the Textbook.

Looks cool. Out of interest why did you choose Mercurial over Git/other dvcs?

Re: Mercurial hosting - Bitbucket

I’ve never tried Git for more than a few test commits, so for me, it’s because I had more experience with Mercurial. I had worked with hg before switching to Bazaar (June/July=launchpad addiction). Unfortunately, I realized pushing with bzr was incredibly slow, so I converted my repos back (via Tailor). The redesigned launchpad, and its inability to accept underscores for project names also motivated me to switch back to hg.

Re: Mercurial hosting - Bitbucket

I’ve not tried Mercurial yet. Recently switched from SVN to git myself and is working well – although I keep messing up when pushing my changes to GitHub. Other than that git is a pleasure to use and is very fast. I was put off Bazaar by the poor interface over at launchpad.

Yeah, the Launchpad redesign was an abysmal failure, but it’s still functional enough for xpat. I am trying out git on a tiny project though :).
