Textpattern vBulletin bridge possibility's

Hi,

I dont mean the real bridge between the two. Here is the problem.

On a txp based site I have a forum. The forum is the core for users, and txp is for writers of the news ect.
I would like to create a login form on the first page (user\pass\remember\submit stuff) that will actually go to vBulletin and ask him is the user is valid or not.

If not, it will display “No such user” or “Wrong password”, if login successfull it will reload (the box only, over AJAX) and display users avatar, user title, unread messages, total inbox, new messages on the board ect.

Im asking this here because a friend told me I am in need of some kind of a bridge between TXP and vBulletin. Since TXP doesn’t have any system for visitors to register by them self or anything similar (the admin must add new users) I fail to see the need of such bridge.

But I would like to know two things.

Is this thing doable, and in general guidelines, how?

And what dose this bridge represent?

Thanks!
