descriptive image names (does it matter)?
when I upload my images to textpattern I like to give them descriptive names like “firefox-rocks” instead of just “image25”.
but when I have to use the images in a article (I currently use hac_tinymce to insert images) my images looks like this:
http://mads.gemal.dk/images/256.jpg
why not “http://mads.gemal.dk/images/256/firefox-rocks”
So should I stop giving them descriptive names since it doesn’t matter?

Re: descriptive image names (does it matter)?
Henrik, functionally, it doesn’t matter, esp. with on-board-means. But it could become a matter of ease of identifying for other people than you operating the site (e.g. on the image tab with very small thumbs), or for caption-like data with plugins such as smd_gallery, or it could replace alt-/title text with some plugin.
Some image selector plugins display names as well. Depends on how you precede.

In bad weather I never leave home without wet_plugout, smd_where_used and adi_form_links

This is a long-lived feature request – having images use the same naming scheme as files do. Hopefully it will appear one day.

It should be fairly easy to do a rewrite rule:
so instead of:
http://mads.gemal.dk/images/256.jpg
you could use:
http://mads.gemal.dk/images/256.jpg/firefox-rocks
