Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
Steve,
I tried with a local install on kubuntu (my previous tests where made on winxp+xampp). It doesen’t work (as the windows install).
At this point – given the previous problems with url addresses – could I hypothesize the problem arises when typing “localhost/my_site”?

Maybe. Ubuntu is pretty easy to configure for virtual hosting so why not give that a shot? That way you’ll get a local address, say http://mylocalsite instead of http://localhost/mylocalsite. It’s the way I always setup my local sites for testing/development etc.

Ok i’ll try when I can.
Anyway, as I said in a previous post, there must have been some change form version 0.4.153 which caused the plugin to fail in local installs so it would be interesting to know if it works for others on a “classic” local install (with addresses like http://localhost/sitename).
Thanks as always for your help.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
Steve,
sorry for the delay, I’ve set my local environment to reach the site typing http://mylocalsite instead of http://localhost/mylocalsite and, yes, all is suddenly working ok even locally!
Now that I know what to do the problem is solved for me.
Nonetheless I suggest you to mention this in the plugin help as I think a lot of people are testing their sites without setting virtualhosts, so they could think the plugin is not working.
I also suggest you specify that this is a really simple thing to solve so nobody gets discouraged (obviously it’s just an opinion).
Thanks for you help.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
I just tried setting up some sections as “Treat as a static section?” to yes, and it doesn’t seem to work (at least not as I expected it to work).
I have a bunch of sections that are just archives, and I set them up as Treat as a static section? to yes, but when I go to the Write tab, they are still in the drop down section list.
I thought they wouldn’t be there if I set them up as Treat as a static section? Yes.
Am I missing something?
I’m also using glz_custom_fields on Textpattern 4.0.6.
Thanks

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
coopersita,
you are probably logged in as Publisher, and AFAIK, when you are publisher, even static sections (that is, set by this plug-in) are listed on the dropdown.

Hi, yes, Julián is right. If you are logged in as a publisher you won’t see any difference as someone needs to be able to see all the sections if changes need to be made :) Try logging in as a staff writer or somesuch and all should be fine.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
Great Plugin, thanks for all the hard work so far!
I am running Textpattern 4.06 and installed the latest version of both the plugin + library (both downloaded from the first post), works perfectly on safari but not on firefox 2.0, no custom fields are hidden when i change the section. as said, works just fine in safari. Will test on a PC with IE and firefox now but would be sweet if could get it to work on a mac osx firefox 2.0… any hints?
oh and i never managed to find that aforementioned sed_section_fields setting in admin_preferences_advanced, is that point crucial or just handling the fancy display? i read the whole thread but with 29 pages i might have missed a small thing…
thanks everyone for helping!

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
UPDATE: Just tested on IE7 and Firefox 2 on a PC, both works like a charm. Now all i need is to have it working on a MAC Firefox 2.0, but i can live without that too… as long as the clients browser of choice is supported its fine. Now i have to check if glz_custom_fields is working alongside this nice plugin of yours, thanks again for that. Will report how it all went down.

Thank you!
You should be able to find your non-crucial settings right at the foot of the Admin > Prefs > Advanced Prefs
page. Just before the save button…
