Plugin authors using Git and GitHub

Fellow plugin writers

Following a data-loss (inspite of backups) on the Joyent machine that was hosting Graeme’s SVN repository (which was holding Graeme’s permanent links, admin library and the MLP Pack), we’ve both made the switch away from SVN as a source management system over to Git.

The combination of Git & GitHub is excellent and I highly recommend the combo to you. Should you wish to investigate them for yourselves, there are some good resources here some videos here and the GitHub blog is here.

FYI, my public repositories are now here and you are welcome to use Git/GitHub to branch or clone them, make your mods or patches and send them back to me for consideration if you want to contribute.

Here’s a list of folks I know about who are using it…

Plugin authors with accounts but no repos (yet?)…

Any other plugin authors using the Git & GitHub combo? Let us know please :)

Best regards,

For people’s info – I’ve just made my plugins on GitHub public. If anyone has any ideas or want to make changes or implement any features feel free to clone the repro. Enjoy

Re: Plugin authors using Git and GitHub

I fully intend to move my code over to it — one by one, probably starting with the unlimited categories plugin — once I get my head in the right zone and dig out/make a new SSH key.

I have a GitHub repo in preparedness. Kinda liked the sound of the free account, since it was labelled as being for “Open Source Hackers”. And is, of course, free which appeals to my thrifty / frugal / tight side :o)

Just noticed Igner has appeared on GitHub too — no repositories yet though :)
