Blank page after publishing an article
Hello everyone,
I get a blank page after publishing an article in live mode. The article IS published tho. I can see it in both online and in the article list. When I switch to Testing mode everything is fine, I can publish articles normally, except I can’t use some addon which I’ll mention below.
Live mode
Everything was fine till yesterday… I haven’t touched any of page templates or addons for 10 days. Website is updated daily by another person with a limited access to TXP admin interface. Yesterday he tried to publish some article and he got a blank page when he clicked on the [content/write] link in admin interface. I disabled the latest addon that I’ve installed 10 days ago (tru_tags) cause I thought it might causing a problem even tho everything was working fine past 10 days. After disabling it I could see the [content/write] page so I tried to publish a new article. I did so, but then I got another blank page… Article was published anyway, I could see it online.
Testing mode
I tried to switch to a Testing mode and it works almost fine, I can publish articles normally. Unfortunately when I enable tru_tags I do see the [content/write] page but I get a blank page after publishing an article…
I’ve searched the forum, tried to rename htaccess file, tried to log as another user, tried everything that came to my mind but still no luck…
Anyone have the idea what’s wrong with my site? I guess it have something to do with too much requests/addons/articles or something… I’m not a PHP/Apache expert I must say, so I would appreciate any help.

Try putting this in a .htaccess file within the textpattern directory:

SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>If that doesn’t help, have a look at the webserver error/access logs to check if it shows anything interesting.

I’ve changed .htaccess file (in html root) and there’s no difference…
(I wasn’t sure if I need to edit .htaccess file in html root, or in textpattern directory. I’ve checked and there’s no .htaccess file in textpattern directory so i made one with the code you gave me and still no luck…)
About the webserver error/access logs.. I dont have a direct ftp access to those files, so I asked my hosting provider to e-mail me logs for past 3 days… I’ll reply as soon as I get them.

It’s getting worse… now I can’t edit any previously posted article in both live and testing mode. I get a blank page again. :(

Try disabling admin-side plugins in the preferences. If that helps it’s a plugin that causes problems either due to a programming error or due to the fact that loading a plugin increases the memory usage to above a limit set by your webhost.

Thanks a lot for your help Ruud, I really appreciate it! It works now! The problem was a memory usage as you’ve said. I got a mail with a server log and I saw that a limit was 16MB, so I added php_value memory_limit 32M in .htaccess file.

Now I’m a bit consirned about what will happen in the future… Is there a way to find out which plugin is using the most memory? Is there a possibility that the memory usage will increase if I don’t install any other addons? Site have a loads of articles though… About 30 new articles each day, but I guess that doesn’t affect a memory usage, only a database. Do I need to worry about it at all? Again, I’m a PHP/Apache n00b. :)

- TXP version (newer versions may require more/less memory)
- PHP version (I’ve seen an increase in memory usage when upgrading PHP itself)
- What you do in TXP (for example: creating a thumbnail for a large image takes a lot of memory)
- Server setup (probably a difference between mod_php, CGI+PHP and FCGI+PHP).
The amount of articles doesn’t matter. The amount of sections and categories will influence the memory usage, but not a lot (more categories/sections means more generated HTML code on various tabs). On my own server (using FCGI), have the memory limit set to only 8MB. No problem.
