Re: Coconet Classic
I really like it too! The colors, the wood, the logos. Good work.
Some “maybes”:
- maybe a little wider (more white space) could make it less “tight”,
- I like the sliding when hovering over an article excerpt to display the story, but it would be benefical for usability and SEO purposes to have a permanent link to the articles. I mean, the articles (for example, those on the “Results” section) are always displayed on a section (article list) but visitors (and search engines) never arrive to the permanent link.
- I would put the partners logos (on the left column) as content images (

), not as background images. They are real content, not decorative. At least, I see them that way.

Re: Coconet Classic
Hey, thanks guys.
maniqui:
- wider. you’re the second person who’s said that- i was trying to be different by being skinny, but turns out it’s probably just annoying…
- permanent links. i could jazz up mootools’ accordion to accept
#title
anchors from the url to open up respective articles? still wouldn’t be permanent links per say… i’d still like to have them all on the same page. Maybe if i kept it as-is but also made the article headings permlinks, would that be better? - really?? dammit. I spent a lot of effort there! It looks so pretty in Textile too :( Should it be kept as a list, or just

’s?
Thanks! Usability is my main concern, anyone else with any other quirks please let me know

Re: Coconet Classic
1. not too much wider than now, but just some more pixels, to make room for white space.
2. yes, i was talking about just having a permanent link somewhere, for example in the article heading, as you said. This way, visitors and engines can follow them. If SEO is important for you, that will probably make a difference.
3. A

with
could be ok. This could be useful for SEO and traffic, because engines could index them. But, of course, you can keep it as you have it now.

Re: Coconet Classic
It looks nice.
But I would make it another 150-200 pixels wider. As monitors get larger and screen pixel size grows, the design for the future will be necessitate that. I’m looking at your site on a 1280×1024 screen and it is very skinny. I wouldn’t design anything in a fixed layout less than 960 pixels wide minimum these days…
