blank page instead of 404

The 404 error page on my website seems to not be active any more.
If i enter the wrong url the browser remain blank instead of using the 404.
How can i rectify this?

A tag trace might help.

Also do you have anything in the error_default page?

yeah the error_default page is all set up and ws working however i have just noticed it isnt working today

Tag trace: described at the end of this FAQ. I doubt however if a totally blank page will show a tag trace ;)

You could check the other things mentioned in the FAQ, and post your (high) diagnostics.
You don’t happen to have an empty ‘error_404’ page I suppose?

The tag errors are just notices, they will go away in live mode. You can find the tag trace at the bottom of the html source. But like I said, I don’t think a tag trace of your home page (which has no problems) will help very much.

I hope one of the devs will read this post, they might notice something in your diagnostics, I don’t unfortunately.
Have you tried disabling your plugins one by one?

What do the webserver error and access logs show? Do they register the request for this non-existing page and/or do they show any errors?
