Martin, as I recall, you can’t turn off mod_security on Joyent. I have ebl_upload too and it works fine on Joyent.

mod_security doesn’t always work! I was spammed 100 times yesterday and 25 times so far today. I’ve left today’s spam there for now in case anyone is interested. The spammer is reading this thread or why have I got comment spam for the first time ever, even though I have mod_security in place? So well done, you’re very clever, but can’t you find something more worthwhile to do?
