HTML Entities and sIFR

Hi, I’ve just started using textpattern for a site and decided to use sifr for the headlines.

Somewhere in the textpattern process one of my spaces has been converted to   (possibly in txplib_html.php). Not that this is neccesarily a problem, but sIfr seems to render the first, unconverted space and ignored the second, html entity.

Any ideas on either how to get it to stop the conversion, or maybe it’s the font i’m using..?

Thanks

Re: HTML Entities and sIFR

In the Advanced Preferences there’s a setting under Publish > Prevent widowed words in article titles

Try turning that off and see whether that fixes the problem.

Yes, that will stop it. The reason is because the symbol for the non-breaking space that the “widow”-setting inserts is not embedded in the .swf file you create for use with sIFR. The same happens when you forget to embed foreign characters that you need. The solution then is to embed those characters explicitly in the flash properties pane, however, Mark Wubben, the sIFR author, has previously (april 2007) saidNormal spaces should be fine I guess. Never was able to get a nbsp to work though.

Yes, that did the trick nicely, although something that might be of interest and that i forgot to mention (although it’s fairly irrelevant now) is that this problem only occured in Internet Explorer; i’d have thought that the flash file would be the same regardless of the browser.

Anyway that worked a treat, thanks guys
