zem_contact_reborn-like standalone solution?
Can anyone recommend a zem_contact_reborn like form mailer with input validation and spam-reduction that can be applied on its own for a non-txp site?

I haven’t used it, but this one looks OK, but it seems a little overkill. Digital Web’s article might be useful if you want to build your own though.

Thanks, Jon-Michael. Both look promising. The lightweight version might well be sufficient too in conjunction with jquery’s validation plugin can probably cover the basics.
