Hidden Article status

I’ve been trying to find out what is ‘special’ about articles set to ‘Hidden’ rather than Draft.

I’ve logged in as different users with different privileges and I can see ‘Hidden’ articles.

Who are articles saved as ‘Hidden’ hidden from?

Thanks Geoff

Re: Hidden Article status

Do you have a status=“hidden” attribute in your article tag? This makes hidden articles visible to the public if you don’t restrict any further via e.g. rvm_privileged.

Re: Hidden Article status

No Uli,

I was just trying to find out how setting an article to ‘Hidden’ might be useful.

From the public.
See here for the diference beetween hidden and draft (though it’s quite non-existent)

Re: Hidden Article status

I think the difference is for where there are different authors and collaboration going on, then they will use draft a lot, but if there’s a need to take an article right out of the workflow, then hidden is an extra option that won’t cause confusion just as long the authors in the organization have been instructed about its purpose.

Re: Hidden Article status

I’ve often been wondering about this myself.

It seems that there really aren’t any functional differences.
However it’s useful to differentiate between articles that aren’t visible an not finished yet and those that had been finished, but are temporarily offline, so it helps with organisation.

Re: Hidden Article status

Yes, as zero and masa explain, the difference is rather “semantic” than functional
