List most popular outlinks
I figure the best way to measure the popularity of certain articles at my site is by counting the number of times people click on a link to a website that offers more information about the item mentioned in the article. I have a web analytics tool that counts outlinks, which led me to wonder if there was a way Textpattern could do the count and display a list of the most popular.

If you can convince your analytics script to store its information inside the txp db and you’re skilled enough to carve the right SQL query, then smd_query can help, I’m sure.
In bad weather I never leave home without wet_plugout, smd_where_used and adi_form_links

Sorry, but I’m nowhere near skilled enough. Should I be requesting a plug-in? (i.e., would it even be possible to create such a plug-in?)

Have you seen this, Tracking all outgoing links with Google Analytics? If you modified the JS to include your page URL instead of /outgoinglink/, it should do what you want.
