partial install?

I want to clean out my textpattern database. In other ways, do a fresh install of textpattern BUT keeping the plugins table and other tables if desired. So how would I do that? Is there some kind of MySQL query to be run?

One way would be to:

1. Backup your database
2. Drop all the tables in the database
3. Install Textpattern
4. Replace the tables you want from your backup
