Re: [request] Find & Replace

I’ve used it to change all the prefixes in a template. It exports to the remote _templates folder (by default). I transfer this to an empty folder locally, do search and replace, transfer back into the pages, forms and style folders within _templates, and import. It’s quicker than it might sound.

Re: [request] Find & Replace

Thanks I already use mcw_templates but hadn’t thought about using it to import for search & replace.

I’ll try hcg_templates. Is version 0.3 the most recent?

I created 60+ forms in only a few hours. Great method. Thank you

Re: [request] Find & Replace

Hi Uli thanks I’ll check it out later.

I do like the method suggested previously using hcg_templates.

It backs up the templates before editing.
I download using Dreamweaver.
I convert .page and .form files to .txt using Renamer (An excellent free piece of software)
I can work locally using Dreamweaver’s Search & Replace which I’m very familiar and comfortable with.
It also means I can still work on my textpattern websites if I don’t have an internet connection. (Very handy in rural Spain!)

I then convert .txt back to .form & .page
Upload the files and Import the template. Again a back up is made.

Fantastic!! – This method of working has already saved me an estimated weeks work in only a few days.

Re: [request] Find & Replace

I’m glad you found it so useful, Geoff:) The plugin is a great time saver. I wrote an article about it but forgot to mention how useful it is with search and replace, so now I’ve added a paragraph for future reference. hcg_templates
