Hi Guys
Actually, I’m after a stripped down version that just has the thumbs in a grid, not even names. Click an image(s) to select it, click “add button” to add it to article.
But I suppose you could handle that via css. Also, I think it’d cut down on the ajax workload if you put the category picker on the initial page so that you’d see the images in that category, less flexible, but when you have hundreds of images I imagine it would slow things down a lot to show and hide them all.
Thoughts?

One of the best things about upm_image_popper is the ability to assign a CSS class to the image. Very useful.

I envisioned something different (simpler and more direct) than “upm_image_popper”, because most of my users just want to see what images they can choose from and associate them with the article. I personally think upm is much more complicated and visually daunting. I’d rather not have to explain a host of options and fields, but…
Having said that, as long as I can press a button somewhere and get the super simple version (grid of thumbs) which is what I initially envisioned, I don’t mind what other features are added.

personally I think this looks great and if you don’t need the additional options you turn them off.
Since you mention title tags I was wondering whether the two columns Add and Insert could be merged into a single…

The grid idea is an excellent one. What about having square thumbs with nothing but different insert buttons (icons) underneath:

Yeah. That’s good idea. I’ve gotta split for the day…but I’ll mock it up like that too.
Although I think what Dale was originally asking for, and where we ended up are 2 different ideas.
I’m not sure how we reconcile the 2? Personally I’m unhappy with all the “image picker” options currently available, so I’m excited about this either way.

All – I was thinking of this (crude prototype):
The article-image field is updated each time you select or deselect an image. The highlighting is done through CSS, so it’s customizable (a red border was just simpler to add).
But are we building another type of image selector? I thought this was article-image only.

In my experience users often want to place images anywhere in an article’s text flow where they see fit, so the article image won’t cut it.

Can I play? I have some of this written already for the image picker for hak_tinyMCE and I’ve wanted to build this forever.
