Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields

All

updated the head post to reflect the recent changes. Now includes a ‘roadmap’ of sorts.

Changed the confusing “Treat as static section?” option to “Hide from non-publishers?”

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields

Steve,
have you really updated the link or the content? Version is still .143, option label is “Treat as a static section?”
I’ve tested the “Treat as static section?” option (wasn’t aware of yesterday), and don’t get different menus for top-level publisher and simple designer. I’ve tested for conflicts, but without getting different results.

redbot
Thanks for the SQL-method, hadn’t that in mind anymore.

Wait. You choose the wrong privileges ;)
The fact is that the plugin is based on the assumption that sections should be hidden only for users which have no access to the “sections” tab.
But “designers” can access the “sections” tab so you shoud try with Freelancer or Staff Writer

No, sorry, redbot (and Steve), in the meantime I’ve tested all of them, expecting what you’d mentioned. No success.

Sorry then, I can’t help further.
For the record it’s working ok for me (in all browsers under win xp and kubuntu)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields

Rats! Steve, the problem is on my side! I forgot this morning to test the right privileges against a minimum set of extensions. I’ll report back when I find the culprit.

redbot thanks for acting very cooperative! :)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields

Was quicker to be found than I thought, after removing admin privileges in sed_sf for myself: cnk_section_tree disables “Treat as static section”. One of my most important extensions, dam!

Uli

Ahah! I remember from the cnk screenshots that it changes the contents of the select box’s options: seems to do it in a way that my plugin doesn’t yet understand.

By the way, I should have said the string has been changed in my development build and not yet released as I’m working on another neat feature for anyone with masses of sections.

er… no sorry I meant firefox and Konqueror.
Though I think you could try IEs4Linux (requires wine installed)

P.S. to be more precise there were some little visualization problems in Konqueror but I can’t remember exactly what now (consider the great majority of kubuntu users use firefox).

P.P.S. about the “static section” feature… I think maybe it should be operative for all users, even publishers.
The way it’s operating now has a clear logic, but why the publisher has to necessarily have a garbled sections list in the “write” page? If he wants to see all sections he can always do two more clicks and check off the “static section” option.
At the end I think the pros of this behaviour are not superior to the cons, but this is only my opinion

yup, I thought similarly. But then again you can easily add restrictions manually in the plugin code.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields

Must say… I’m enjoying this plugin, I hacked the wording to make the fields more prominent… I’m also using steve’s most excellent section collapse plugin
