shouldn’t need to. Pretty sure I’ve fixed it — just look at the post #151 for info.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
All
Just as a teaser for possible future inclusion in this plugin…
I’ve been working on some layout changes to the standard textpattern Presentation > Sections screen so I don’t have to deal with such a lengthy table. A little jQuery has got me to this stage…
Now I only have to deal with a section at a time and can locate my required section’s controls pretty speedily from the index on the left hand side. I’ll try moving the title row and “create” form over to the top of the left hand side too to free up a little more vertical space on the right.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
I.e. all minus 1 of the listed sections will be hidden? Awesome!!
For compatibility reasons with cnk_section_tree: will the links left hand be capable of displaying a nested list? cnk_st comes with its own linklist at the same place of the page (see screenshot No. 2 at cnk_st). Will both lists conflict?
May I propose one further improvement I’ve recently liked to have at hand? When you’re setting up some handful of sections with glz_cf installed and more than 10 fields used, clicking all the way down the page can become really painful. Is it much work to implement a “copy settings from section“menu? If you don’t like the idea, sed_section_fields is helpful enough without, no problem.
In bad weather I never leave home without wet_plugout, smd_where_used and adi_form_links

Hello! Thank you for posting.

Not awesome — but useful :)

I’ve not seen cnk_section_tree before and haven’t been testing for compatibility with it. It does look like an interesting plugin though. Once I know I can make the changes I want to the plain vanilla textpattern section tab, I’ll try playing with that plugin and see if there are issues. Don’t hold your breath though, I don’t think I’ll be aiming for that in the next release.

Another interesting idea, and I’m sure it’s possible — would anyone else find this useful? How often, on client sites, would a specific field setup (other than hide all/hide none) be used? If this turns out to be a frequently requested/useful feature I’ll think about it again.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
All
v0.3.138 is here, including a couple of additional bugfixes for…
- the no-additional-fields when creating a section bug,
- the loss of existing data when sections are renamed.
It includes some updated help text too.
Now on to version 0.4 with optional new layout for the Presentation > Sections tab!

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
All
Here’s my first shot at sed_section_fields.v0.4.143.gzip.txt which should allow you a different take on the Presentation > Sections screen.
To activate the new layout: go to Admin > Preferences > Advanced and scroll down until you find the sed_sf section. Enable the option and save the page. Navigate to the sections tab and let me know if it works or fails.
Please test the following…
- Creation of new sections (should take you to the new section’s entry)
- Deletion of sections (should take you to the default entry)
- Saving of section (should take you to page-top and show the saved section’s entry)
- Renaming of a section (should retain all data and take you to page-top)
I’m wondering how usable the section index is for sites with large numbers of sections. Whilst I’m sure it will be better than the plain vanilla layout, I’m wondering if jQuery could even paginate the index. Hmmm… that will have to wait for another day.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
Hi Steve, Installed and followed the instructions but get a completely blank screen when in sections. You’re welcome to the login to my text site if that will help.
Best wishes

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
Lee
thank you, questions…
- what version of textpattern are you on?
- is sed_plugin_library v0.4 installed?
- did you have v0.3 installed previously or v0.2 or is this a totally new installation on your site?
- are you running in live/testing or debugging mode?
You can send me a login if you still have my email — otherwise the contact form should do it. But I’m off to bed very soon so tomorrow or Wednesday will be more realistic.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
1. Version 4.06
2. sed_plugin_library v0.4 is installed now – it wasn’t before
3. New install
4. Live
With the library installed I’m now getting the normal section screen, not the new fancy one.

Ok, Did you go to Admin > Preferences > Advanced and enable the new layout under the “sed_sf” group without forgetting to save the page?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] sed_section_fields
Looks really tidy!
I’ve tested happily: Passed! :)
What does “Treat as a static section?” do?
Show all/Hide all comes close to my proposition. Nice!
Thanks, Steve!
