Using my own template?
Hello everyone!
This is obviously my first post in this forum. I could not find a post that would answer my questions so I need to ask for it. I’m revamping my Web site from scratch and I’m starting with the template layout. I like how the Textpattern admin interface works, lean and straight to the point. I have been searching here as well online elsewhere on creating your own template and how to implement that template into the Textpattern scheme.
What documents should I start out with and where to find them?
I have a nice template that I want to use but I need to make sure that I can use it with Textpattern. Thank you.

Re: Using my own template?
- look at the default page template and archive page template and note the html that is used, the names of the divs etc.
- You also need to look at the output of the page because there will be some html that is output by txp:tags like for search and list of sections etc.
- After you know the html that is used you can then adjust your template css to match.
- Then replace the default css with your css.
- You should be getting nearer now and just need to style some fine details and the like.
If that sounds like a lot of trouble, you could look at textgarden or txp resources and find a template near to yours. Install that (instructions will be with it) then adjust it to be exactly like yours.

I thought there was an article about adding Textpattern to your existing site either on TXPQ or on textbook but I couldn’t find it. Maybe I was dreaming?

Thank you zero, that is what I meant, my theme. Also thank you for pointing me in the right direction on where to start, so that I may dissect the default page template and continue with my project.

Matt, are you thinking of hcg_templates?
This is great for importing themes designed for Textpattern – pages, forms and styles – but won’t work with non-txp themes.
