DNS help please
I’m having trouble configuring the DNS for www.lapierreronde.com. TxP diagnostic is showing: Web Domain DNS lookup fails: www.lapierreronde.com.
Although I can se the site OK, friends in the UK can’t see it.
Dns zone setting are:
1. “@” – A – 8.12.37.100
2. “@” – NS – ns0.online.net
3. “@” – NS – ns1.online.net
4. “@” – MX – 10 – mail.lapierreronde.com
5. mail – A – 8.12.37.100
6. www – A – 8.12.37.100
Best wishes
Lee

Re: DNS help please
Looks okay to me. I can visit your website and the domain whois doesn’t show any changes so unless you changed the DNS records to point to a different server without first lowering the TTL well in advance (which causes the old DNS records to be cached by nameservers for a longer time than you’d like), I see no problem.

Re: DNS help please
I’m getting the same error, but I think the site is ok!
We just switched servers. I did a rsync and mysqldump to get the files synced up. Swapped the IP addresses (new server got the old ip and vice versa) and everything looked good, except I get this error in my diagnostics:
Web Domain DNS lookup fails: astrobiology.nasa.gov
Web Domain DNS lookup fails: lunarscience.arc.nasa.gov (another txp site on the same server)
The built-in help didn’t seem to shed any light. As far as I can tell, people can visit the site. Mint statistics shows no drop in traffic.
What is being run inside Txp to produce this error?
Thanks,
Shige

Re: DNS help please
Diagnostics performs a gethostbyname call on the specified domain name. If it doesn’t resolve to an IPnr, you’ll get an error. Could be a local DNS problem on the server. Since you can visit the website without problems, I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
