what is the best way to include non en words/phrases in an en page?

For now I am just inserting the non english words wherever they appear in texts but are there any standards or recommendations regarding this mixing of languages?

Also re en-gb and en-us

Is there a way for texts to be just en? Our writers come from both sides using either spelling.

You can use <span lang="en">Hello</span>

Styling for CSS2 could be:
span [lang|="en"] {color:red;} or
*:lang(en) {color:red;}

Is that what you mean?

Hi peter,

Although I do not need the css, it is what I was looking for except it would be more like <span lang="fr">bonjour</span>:). I take it that is the w3 recommended method.
