Help With SEO

I’ve used Textpattern to power my personal website. However, after being live for approximately 2 – 3 months, only my root page (index.php) is coming up in my search results – but, none of the sub pages for each of my blog entries etc are coming up. Is there anyone that could help me out? If so, let me know and I’ll Private Message you my url.

Cheers.

Re: Help With SEO

Textpattern is excellent for SEO.
Have you submitted site to google. Maybe you should’nt to Yahoo?
Are your individual, page titles, file titles, navigation tiles all the same or similar.
I assume you are not using javascript navigation. Search Engine spiders don’t like javascript.
Are your keywords within the page content related to your meta tags. Do you have between 150 and 300 words of content on each page you want indexed. Search Engines love content
Are you using page headers?
Are your image tags given relevant alt tags.
Your welcome to email me if you want me to have a quick look at your site. I assume you can thru the forum
I linked to Deimossystems.com site which gave information on how to create meta tags for each individual article but the site has expired.
So here is the article Ralph wrote, the author of the article, I hope he doesn’t mind my putting it on my site.
Textpattern section based SEO
Organic SEO takes a few months but there are certain things some of which are above which help a sites position on a search engine. Search engines also like inward links, which is why good content is so important.

Re: Help With SEO

rah_metas is your friend too. It really helps to automagically set all the necessary meta tags.

Also, take a look at this article by the bombsite: http://thebombsite.com/textpattern-coding/txp-and-seo

Re: Help With SEO

  1. Do you have a robots.txt file blocking robots?
  2. Are all your articles accessible within a few links from the homepage? If not, you might need a sitemap.

Re: Help With SEO

Thanks guys. I used the plugin that auto-generates a sitemap – and now I have 47 links submitted rather than 8 previously. So, I guess I will give it a week or so to see if Google indexes any of those 47 links.

Re: Help With SEO

Did you link to the sitemap via a robots.txt or did you add it in Google’s Webmaster Tools?
