Exisiting database
I would like to install TXP utilizing the existing database for the current live website. During the development phase of the new website, the existing website has to be live and working. The hosting contract of my client allows only for one database. Can I run into problems with utilising the existing database? Will TXP change anything in the existing database during setup?
Thanks very much to take the time to help a TXP newbie.

Re: Exisiting database
When you install new TXP, it asks if you want to use table prefix in the database. That means that it can add prefix of your choise tables it’s going to install -> table textpattern could be named newsite_textpattern. That way I think there comes no problem with existing database, even if both are using tables otherwise named same.

Re: Exisiting database
Thanks guys for the quick answers. So, there will be no danger for the existing site (not created with textpattern) when I use the table prefix at installation? Would you recommend to backup existing tables from the old website beforehand?
Cheers

No problems at all. Always do backups.
