[request] Thumbnails for the Articles tab

TXPs backend is often operated by users with a graphical approach, be it photographers, graphic designers, web designers, gallery employees, artists, … And it’s often enough the articles that serve as containers to keep all the information associated with the image herein. So a thumbnail of the article image could serve very well to spot and identify an article among the long and unwieldy list of surrounding entries in the articles tab.

This would be just a simple change to the look and feel of the normal articles list and thus might be well posted over at “feature requests”, but as it won’t be welcomed by each and every TXP user, it might better be delegated to a plugin and then be switched on or off by a checkbox for users with different approaches and objectives.

Re: [request] Thumbnails for the Articles tab

hi Uli

not all users use the article image function. From the 3 txp sites (4 txp installs) I maintain only one of them uses it.

Although I am not against your proposal, I think that it would be better as a plugin or, if the developers decide to adopt it, an optional feature controlled in the preferences.

Agreed, like I said in the first post.

With a switch on the prefs tab a global behavior of the plugin were forced. The goal of my request is to adopt the personal, current needs of each user, though. With a checkbox immediately on the articles tab, behavior could be switched quickly to suit these needs on multi user situations, similar to the checkbox “Show detail”.

Re: [request] Thumbnails for the Articles tab

I have actually thought about this many times and it’s on my personal backlog of plugins I want to write.

The idea was for something like a shopping cart for images where you could pick images and add them to the cart where you would see a thumbnail and in the background they would be added to the article image field. This way users would never have to actually interact with the field.
