Running Textpattern on Zeus server

A prospective client already has a hosting- and email account with a provider that uses Zeus instead of Apache. The client is reluctant to switch.

Wil Textpattern work just fine or am I likely to run into problems?

If others have any experiences with Zeus and Txp they’d want to share, I’d be very interested to hear.

No, I’m not sure.
They informed me that they don’t have mod_rewrite, but use zeus rewrite instead which they claim to be “practically the same”. I assumed the server had to be Zeus then – I’ll check.

OK, they’ve just confirmed it is indeed Zeus

Zeus rewrite seems to have a different syntax than apache mod_rewrite, but if the functionality is the same, you should be able to convert the .htaccess file as supplied by TXP into something that Zeus can handle (otherwise clean urls won’t work).
I’m not sure if there are any other things to consider, so it’s really a matter of trying and see if it works.

After some delays I resumed work on the project the other day and I’m pleased to report that the installation went without a hitch and Txp is working fine in messy url mode for now.

Like Ruud mentioned, the Apache .htaccess file needs to be rewritten for Zeus, but the provider will take care of that.

I’ve just been landed with the task of making TxP clean URLs work on a Zeus server too…

By any chance did you get your .htaccess file sorted? Care to share?

No, I explained the issue to the client and we decided it wasn’t worth the extra charges.
