"Extracting" a plug-in

I have a plug-in I use on my existing Textpattern site ( hfw_pg_ ) that is no longer available. It is still listed on textpattern.org but the download link goes to a now vanished domain.

I didn’t save the original .txt file the plug-in came on. It is loaded on one of my sites. It works great – I’m using it. I now would like to use it on another Textpattern site.

Is there a way I can “extract” the plug-in from my existing site so I can load it on another Textpattern site?

Re: "Extracting" a plug-in

I’m sure someone will chime in with a simpler method but in the meantime you can always temporarily install the latest version of ied_plugin_composer. Under the Extensions->Plugin Composer tab you’ll see all your plugins listed. Find the one you want and hit the Publish button to get a standard plugin .txt file out. Use the Zip button to extract the plugin as a compressed version.

Hope that helps.

That was simple enough – thank you! It worked and I’m underway……

Re: "Extracting" a plug-in

Stef,

thanks very much for your tip – very much appreciated!

I occasionally modify plugins to fit my needs and had been wondering about an easy way to transfer them to another installation and now I know how :-)
