Block Rocker (a TXP TEMPLATE)

Hey folks,
Well I finally made one of my own templates.

Have a look at Block Rocker

It will be available as a template as soon as Thame posts it at Textplates.
Or if you are desparate, email me and I’ll send you a copy.

:)

Matthew

Re: Block Rocker (a TXP TEMPLATE)

nice! most blog templates bore me to hell. especially ones that are just a bit too clean looking. yours is a nice balance between clean and creative.

Good luck with the contest! I like this one. Do you want me to port it for you? :)

Stuart!
Hows it going man?!

Port away, and thanks for the comments.
Also, if you have a better solution than I for the conditional comments
that change the shape of the #introduction post in ie, I’d love to know them.

I had some trouble with negative margins on that one, so I simply did some graceful
degradation.

:)

Re: Block Rocker (a TXP TEMPLATE)

Nice one. I like the bold approach with large right aligned headers, the colours, the man with hattitude, the date and category – all of it I suppose! Perhaps you could put Flickr Photos so people know they are going off site.

Re: Block Rocker (a TXP TEMPLATE)

Mathew,

I’m trying to use your template to build my own site but I’m having some issues that I can’t resolve.

See: olgahow.com/site2/index.html

I can’t get the homepage, articles, about pages to show any content. I’ve looked at every thread to see if there’s anything specific but no luck.

Is there anything you can think of that I’m missing?

Thanks for your help!!!

I love your template BTW. :)

Re: Block Rocker (a TXP TEMPLATE)

Link to site

Just wandering around your site Olga, it would seem that “messy” URL links work fine so you will need to look at the way the top nav links are created as they are currently using “clean” URLs and throw a 404 at me. If I change the links to “messy” manually they work. If you want to use “clean” URLs have you selected that option in “Preferences” and if you have what does your “Diagnostics” page say about the “clean URL test”?

EDITactually, just having a second look, all the links in the bottom nav are in “messy” mode so look at how they are coded and change the top nav accordingly.

As for your articles not appearing – first for your frontpage, in the “Sections” tab, have you allowed any of the sections to “appear on the front-page”?

For the other sections (apart from “Contact” which seems to work fine with a “messy” URL) have you assigned your articles to the relevant section on the “Write” tab?

Also, and this is just some advice, don’t use capitals for section names. By all means use them for section titles if you want but not names. You could find yourself with other problems further down the line.
