Re: [howto] How to build a Client section on your website?
I can’t believe this, it’s awesome. I had always thought this kind of functionality was beyond TXP (at least for my skill level) and your work opens up a new domain of possibility. Now I’ll have to do some serious studying :)
Thank you for posting this.

Is tag ign_user_info something you put in? I keep getting “tag does not exist” among other errors. But I thought this is a good one to start with.

Also, ign_logout_link is an unknown tag.

The latest version of ign_password_protect has both these, tags.
As I said earlier, I may have hacked the functions to hone the output, but I can’t exactly remember if/how.

Thanks! I didn’t realize I was pulling an older version of that plugin. This client section works great!!

Re: [howto] How to build a Client section on your website?
Very wonderful post, but…
It’s not working for me! I have triple checked all my plugins and I think the culprit lies in the asy_wondertag or the ign_user_info type=“name” tag. It doesn’t appear to be grabbing article category and dynamically putting it in the type=“name” attribute. I’ve posted two fake project updates and assigned them to the proper section and category, but I’m still getting the “No project updates” message.
What am I doing wrong? Please help, I want this so bad!
UPDATE:partially fixed, had to remove the author’s comments from forms.

Re: [howto] How to build a Client section on your website?
Thanks so much for this mrdale! This is exactly what I was looking for. I can alter this somewhat to help with an Intranet I’ve been toiling over. I had been shuffling back and forth between ign_password_protect and some mem plugins for a week trying to come up with a good recipe.
Last thing for me: I am trying to locate sed_afu and I can’t get through on the netcarver site or anywhere else at the moment. I understand I’ll need to ‘request’ it. Would someone, anyone, be willing to hand me the file or point me to the right place?

Can’t seem to find bos_if_cat_parent the link returns a 403.
Can someone email it to me…or direct me to an active link.
Dale, is there something else that can be substituted?
Much appreciated.

This was mentioned before, but just wanted to confirm that copying/pasting the code from the forum can cause some issues.
Removing all comments seemed to fix things for me as well.
Also. You need hak_article_image
if you are going to use Dale’s code exactly.

Re: [howto] How to build a Client section on your website?
- bos_if_cat_parent is a conditional that tests for the parent of the current category.
- sed_afu can be requested at http://txp-plugins.netcarving.com/

You may be able to get equivalent functionality with smd_if using field="parent" value="<txp:ign_user_info type="name" />"
Untested, not sure if it’ll work. Also look at smd_parent for possible inspiration/abuse.

Re: [howto] How to build a Client section on your website?
bos_if_cat_parent available at a new url (I’m discontinuing the old site).
Anyway, smd_parent and smd_if look actually more complete about that, but haven’t tried. bos_if_cat_parent also offer some additional conditional than parent cat, so maybe the name isn’t properly chosen, but, anyway, try and see. :)

Re: [howto] How to build a Client section on your website?
Mrdale, this tutorial is simply great, it’s a great solution for building a client section, it’s just what I was looking for. It works very well with the MLP plug-in, which is great if you work with clients from different countries!
Thank you for having provided so many information about the code, it was relatively easy to adapt it to my needs.
However there’s just one thing that I do not fully understand, that’s the usage of the strong*stw_category_tree*strong plug-in. As a matter of fact I didn’t manage to show the gallery until I deleted the stw_category_tree tags and called the gallery form through a plain old <txp:output_form> tag instead.
Thanks
