theme generator

Is there a txp theme generator? If not, I think it would be helpful if someone come up with that.

Re: theme generator

What do you mean by theme “generator” Sarah? If you mean something that can export all the page, form and CSS templates as a “package” and also import such a package then there is hcg_templates or mcw_templates.

If you want to be able to switch between styles there is fla_style_switcher and fla_altlist_link.

Re: theme generator

No there is no theme generator.

The logic is pretty simple: Take any naked HTML markup (plus CSS) you like and bring it to Textpattern by adding the Textpattern template tags.

You can take any template (HTML markup plus CSS) you like.

With TXP it is the other way round than you might expect:

  1. Take a template from any CMS
  2. Strip the CMS specific code from that template
  3. Add TXP template tags instead
  4. You are done

As far as I see it you can use the WP Theme Generator you mentioned exactly in this way.

Re: theme generator

The thing I’ve tended to find with those on-line theme generators is that the code they output can leave a lot to be desired. Also a lot of sites start to look a bit “samey”.

If you are looking for something for your own site Sarah why don’t you have a look at all the themes available at Textgarden? Look for something that has the basic construction (layout of the different blocks) that you are after. Ignore things like colours, images and text because you can change those to your own taste later and start making the theme your own. If you have problems you can always ask questions here. We are usually pretty good at answering them.

I see typo there: better than good, more like god :P (but omega [monster] is natural enemy of god, isn’t it? ^^)

Re: theme generator

Yes, but then the word “pretty” might be incorrect Jukka. ;)

Maybe “omega” should be changed to “omnipotent”?
