monthly links list on archive page

How do I create monthly links list on the archive page and have each of them linked to the page of articles under a specified month?

actually not what im looking for. i want to do a list of the months only, having them be linked to the page with another list of articles under a specified month.

there was another request similar/identical to yours a few months ago. If I am not mistaken it was achieved using upm_date_archive. A further search in this forum will definitely reveal the solution to you.
