New User: Client to add additional menu/submenu

Hi there,

I’m new to Textpattern but it looks really simple and well structured. Before I continue to download and install I need the answer to a (probably) simple question:
Can a user (client) add or delete menu items or submenu items after the website is live with his personalised login? Or is only the administrator allowed to do that. My client wants to know if he can add menus later if the design allows for it.

Thank you very much

It depends what elements of menu are – if they are categories – just allow user to add\edit\delete categories. If menu is made of sections – allow manipulate with sections.

Hi ghost,

so what you are saying is, that it is in general possible for a user with the correct permissions to add or delete navigational menus including submenus?

Cheers

It’s possible to give any permissions you want to user login type (publisher, for example, or freelancer).

And to add, there is a plenty of in-build menu generating tags, plus plugins. You can build the menus with it, and the client can arrenge menus via backend with zero basic XHTML skills.

See: Alphabetical Tag Listing

As you can see and imagine, TXP’s frontend shows only the things, code and elements that you put there, nothing more or less aka Anti-Joomla :)

Yes, absolutely.

  • Normally the webdesigner will build a template workflow where menus are dynamic i.e. fill themself through template tags (Categories, Section, recent article, related articles).
  • Many more is possible.
  • But if a user is allowed to change template files he can even add/change hardcoded menus.
