Sometimes permalinks try to "open application/octet-stream" (firefox)
Hello
This is a weird one… I’ve had txp running fine various different websites on the same hosts for a while now.
My latest development though sometimes causes Firefox (only firefox I think) to display a dialogue box when you click on any standard link (such as a menu link or article permalink)….
It’s as if Firefox is trying to download the web page – the dialogue box asks “You have chosen to download file of type… application/octet-stream… open or save?”.
If I save this file and open it in a text editor, it shows the page’s full html, plus the following code before it:
‹ ÿÿ HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Sat, 12 Apr 2008 18:16:44 GMT
Server: Apache/1.3.37 (Unix) mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_log_bytes/1.2 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635.SR1.2 mod_ssl/2.8.28 OpenSSL/0.9.7a PHP-CGI/0.1b
Cache-Control: private
X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.1
Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=99
Connection: Keep-Alive
Transfer-Encoding: chunked
Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8
2000
Is this a problem with the server? Can I fix it with txp installation, .htacces files or is it just a server problem?
Hmmm bizarre!
Thanks for any ideas you may have!!!!

I have seen this before myself on one or two sites I’ve worked on. As far as I am aware it is a server-side problem though I am not knowledgeable enough to tell you exactly what it is. I generally find that it happens when the server appears very sluggish.
