local host

Mamps not working for me.

Sql server starts but the apache server wont.
Is there any way to see apache server diagnostics in osx?
Should i just reinstall mamp first?

I was using Spring Cleaning to optimize my system and i dont think i was careful enough…
I think maybe i have deleted some file or folder used by mamp or the apache server by accident.

Re: local host

If you think your system’s (/etc/apache2) Apache install is broken, type apachectl configtest into Terminal.app. Otherwise, I’d give reinstalling MAMP a shot, or configuring your own install.

Re: local host

As far as I understand MAMP is completely self-contained and doesn’t rely on nor modify any system files, so a simple reinstall of it should fix the problem. However you might want to keep any existing settings.

This is their official recommendation to upgrading MAMP (copied from their forum) – should apply to reinstalling, too:

update MAMP and keep all your settings and databases do it this way:

1. Stop the servers.
2. Quit MAMP (and/or MAMP PRO)
3. Rename the folder /Applications/MAMP e.g. to /Applications/MAMP_old
4. Copy the new MAMP folder to your Applications folder.
5. Copy the databases and other files that you want to keep to the new MAMP folder from the old one. Databases are located under /Applications/MAMP/db but there are possibly also other files that you want to keep like the folder /Applications/MAMP/htdocs or configuration files within /Applications/MAMP/conf.
6. Start new MAMP (or MAMP PRO).

If you do it this way then everything should be OK and you still have a backup folder MAMP_old. You can burn it to a CD to be sure that nothing get lost.
