Stuart, I like the cleanliness of the design and boldness, just couldn’t quite put my finger on why my head went “argh! info overload” on first viewing the page. Thinking about it again, I reckon Kevin’s hit the nail on the head.
Not that I adhere to it much (cough cough) but the web style guide has a useful chapter on visual hierarchy and page layout that I really should pay more attention to when I design stuff.
[ btw, @zero: thanks for the tip about user-settable background colours. I never knew people/browsers did that, but now I know I’ll be mindful of it, ta! ]
Anyway, overall it’s a smart revamp and I can find stuff fairly easily; nice work sir. Still can’t believe there’s no blue… it’s just not the bombsite without it ;-)

Heres the beginnings of a site im putting up. Its design is similar to yours with a simple hierarchy.
Also notice the background has a light tint is more comfortable to read than white. I usally start with something like #f1f1f1 and go lighter from there.

Thanks for the link Kevin. I know #f1f1f1 intimately which I think would be a little dark but I know what you mean. I’ll get to that.
Yes Els, you do see a little blue but I have to tell you that right at this very moment I have a dirty orange in mind when I find it. ;)
