weird html characters
hi,
A few strange html characters been popping up in the textpattern interface and in the pages.
Ive noticed this after i export and import a database from phpmyadmin.
stuff like this:
…or, copy page as
Ive read a previous thread about this but it doesnt seem to be realated. I tried different browser and turned of all the plugins in both browsers, still happened. It must be something my export setting from php my admin. no big deal but if someones experienced this maybe i could resolve it.

Re: weird html characters
Please post your full diagnostics.
Did you switch to a different server or was the MySQL version upgraded?

Re: weird html characters
hi ruud, ok this database has gone from pillar to post. It was originally on my local server then went to media temple which i think goes down a version of mysql thats when the characters showed up. After having problems with media temple i switched hosts again but the characters came along as well.

Re: weird html characters
Try adding this to your config.php file: $txpcfg['dbcharset'] = 'latin1';
If that works, then your TXP tables have some serious problems with charsets.

Re: weird html characters
hi,
didnt work but,
“…or, copy page as”
is now
“…or, copy page as”
it hasnt caused any real problems other than having to rewrite a txp tag. im going to brush it under the rug for now unless you think its important to fix. If you do i guess id have to start from scratch and rebuild the site.Last edited by kvnmcwebn (2008-03-27 19:50:38)

Re: weird html characters
I would try fixing it, but I’m not you ;)
There’s no simple way to fix this though.

Re: weird html characters
Yes your right i will fix it, there are strange things happening with the plugins thats probably related to this.
I will delete the database and start over and just paste my pages and forms into a text file or something-that should do it right?
-thanks

Re: weird html characters
That should do it. You’ll have to correct the strange characters inside articles manually. but at least that will fix the strange characters elsewhere. Do set the dbcharset back to utf8 for that new install.
