Images - plugin to mass change categories?
Anyone come across a plugin that can change multiple image categories? Rather like we can change multiple article attributes at a time (sections/category/status/author etc) on the Articles page?
Its a pain to have to do this one image at a time. Is this something that will change in 4.07 – more consistent behaviour between the articles/images/write tabs?

If I understand you correctly Jonathan, go to the Categories tab, click on the category you want to change, then simply change it on the new page that you are presented with, and don’t forget the title.

No Stuart, what I meant is to change several images at a time from the Images tab. Lets say I have 10 images under category News, and I want to change them all to Sport – I have to do this one at a time at the moment.

Got ya. I’m not aware of anything that does that. Maybe a plug-in request or something for base-code development?

Yeah its a pain. You know of any plans to change the section and images tabs to make them more consistent with the article tab behaviour? Devs?

Also being able to delete multiple images at once would be a welcome addition.
This has always puzzled me. If it’s possible with articles, why not with images, too? Since 4.0.4 we can even select and delete multiple log entries at once, a feature of little practical value in comparison.

Well I’m no Dev so a reply from one of them might be in order, but the problem with images may be that they have both a database entry and the physical image file itself which may cause complications as far as mass deleting is concerned???

The category assignement doesn’t influence on phisical file, if i’m right… I think it’s should be implemented in the core

So do I. But until then I still think some kind of (jQuery?) stop-gap plugin might be appropriate. As explained there, the ‘delete’ button could be a dropdown of ‘Change section’, ‘change status’, ‘delete’, etc, just like the article tab.
I never got any feedback so I assumed it was crap and/or there was no demand for it and/or there was a glaring fault in the idea, thus I never pursued it.

@Victor – yes I agree for category re-assignment but I was really talking about mass deletion.

Consistency between the tabs (using Article tab as the basis) is really important, IMHO. Hope Ruud or one of the Devs can comment on this..
