How do I allow links in comments

I know it can lead to spamming but I’m moderating comments.

I found today I wanted to respond to a comment by linking to an article on the site but couldn’t.

Is it possible?

Thanks Geoff

Re: How do I allow links in comments

Sorry this didn’t work.

I’m just using the comment box below the article.

I write my articles using tiny_mce.

Re: How do I allow links in comments

In Admin – Preferences – Advanced is “Allow more Textile markup in comments” set to yes?

Re: How do I allow links in comments

Hi,

Yes it is set to yes. I’ve tried to add this link.

April 8th – 15th Blog
"April 8th - 15th Blog":http://www.property-in-the-sun.com/Blog/april-8th-15th-2007

I can see the link works here so I must have something set wrong.

Comments
Require user’s name? Yes ?
Require user’s e-mail address? Yes ?
Hide e-mail address? Yes ?
Apply rel=“nofollow” to comments? Yes ?
Strip user images? No ?
Allow more Textile markup? Yes ?
Spam blacklists (comma-separated) ?
New comment means site updated? Yes ?

You can see the article with the link in te third comment showing as text here

Re: How do I allow links in comments

You can have Textile links in comments without having ‘more Textile markup’ set to ‘yes’. I don’t use tiny_mce but could that indicate that you turned off Textile for the entire site? (in basic preferences: Use Textile)

Re: How do I allow links in comments

I’ve disabled tiny_mce and have set Use Textile.

It still isn’t working …

Re: How do I allow links in comments

Well, as far I can see the Textile is working for comments. But if you’re editing your comment, then you must use raw XHTML, not Textile, as the discussion edit box on backend doesn’t Textile your message.

Okay then that would explain what is happening.
I’ll delete the comment and add it again …

Thank you all for your fast and helpful responses.
