Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]
Hello, please!
I need this plugin badly. I used it in my old site, with TXP 4.0.4. And that was fine. Now I need to use it with TXP 4.0.6 and now I see there’s a couple of troubles with this version.
Somebody can do something for it? I think I’m not the only one who need this plugin.
Thanks in advance.
Robhert.

it may be time to toss this up either for community development, which I believe was thier intent here, and get something working available, or close this and call it not supported.
this plugin is a crucial piece of functionality for Txp and it’d be great if it could be mentored along like zem_contact_reborn – and some dollars sent its way
using the article date field to work with events or date-limited information is difficult to implement and twice as confusing for the content authors who follow
PS the plugin is working on a 4.0.6 install on a local server here, but to be honest not sure what combination of files I’ve installed to get it going

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]
If someone could at least hack it to work with 4.0.6 that would be great. I think it was put on Google Code so it could be maintained by the community.
Guess it doesn’t need it’s own jQuery now anyway.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]
This has been on community support mode. Basically zem’s involvement ended after he delivered the plugin and instead of just keeping it for himself Matthew decided to make it available so that others could keep building on it. There currently isn’t an official maintainer.
I was able to successfully install it in a new 4.0.6 install so the empty plugin errors are not related to the plugin. It doesn’t however seem to work for me so something is busted. I don’t use this plugin so i don’t know if I am the best person to look at it as I don’t really know what it did and what it didn’t do in order to identify what is failing.
If anyone wants commit access to the google code repo let me know. Or we can move it to something like launchpad.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]
We really need to know one way or another what’s happening with this plugin – the lack of response isn’t reflecting well on those involved. If extra cash is required to get this finished and / or fixed then lets hear how much and something can be done but to basically abandon it is not good at all. Anyone got anything to add regards the ‘Badly formed or empty plugin code’ installation error code?
Edit – just seen Hak’s comment – sorry, wasn’t aware that was the case. That said, at its core its a good plugin, the functionality of which isnt really available elsewhere, so what do we need to do to get it going and resolve the installation / minical issues etc?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]
fwiw, I’m using the minical on a 4.0.5 site and it works pretty well. When I go through the upgrade procedure to 4.0.6 I’ll probably hit the same issues as everyone else. And since this plugin is so cool I’ll probably end up fixing it.
Can’t say when that’ll be — got a lot on right now — and whether me dabbling with it constitutes official maintenance is another thing entirely. I seem to recall it was pretty devious stuff when I last poked under the hood so might still be beyond my level of competency at PHP. Of course if someone else was willing to lend a hand then we could get this thing rockin again…

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]
Bloke – This plugin is complex and in some elements a bit above my skill level, but I did become familiar enough with the internal workings that I may be able to help somewhat. My time won’t free up for a few days (seasonal work) after that I’ll have some to offer.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]
This doesn’t help those who are having problems, but perhaps it will help as some of the coders begin looking into updating the plugin. zem_event is working in 4.0.6 for me. I have a pretty basic implementation of it, so maybe that’s part of the reason. Also, I already had it installed in 4.0.5, and updated via svn.

update: I tried a fresh install of the plugin on another 4.0.6 site. I received the badly formed message using the regular plugin tab. I was able to upload the php version using plugin_composer. fwiw.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]
Maverick can you maybe try exporting a new version from plugin composer and see if that one takes?
Also if someone can send me specific issues to look into I can see what I can do along with Rick and Stef.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]
I think the first step might be to ensure that folks are clear on what needs to be downloaded and make it available as a download set. The only download on the download tab is based on Ver .34 and is patched for auto delete controls, this is not the most recent or most stable option. Perhaps moving a download for .35 and zem_paginate as compiled plugins to that page would resolve some potential confusion.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]
I’d been using the plugin with no problems (apart from the minical problem – which I think bloke posted a fix to) until I tried to install it recently and got the ‘badly formed…’ error. I assumed it was just 4.0.6 but I tried an install of 4.0.5 too and that also didnt work. Perhaps its a date based or PHP update issue? This would be the first problem to look at I’d say. I’ll have to look at using ‘plugin_converter’?

I exported a compressed version (0.3.5) from plugin composer. It installs fine for me.
(I think I recall that the uncompressed version was throwing that “badly formed” error for some folks in discussion from earlier in this thread?)
Per the install issues – I’m wondering if the problem is less 4.0.6 and more a compression issue.
I have three instances of successful installs in 4.0.6:
1) Plugin previously installed, Textpattern updated via SVN
2) Uncompiled Plugin installed via Plugin Composer
3) Compressed Plugin installed via Plugin Tab

Damien
If you would like, email me and I’ll send you a zip file with the compressed versions.
An alternate route is ied_plugin_composer and the php files.
