curious problem... article_image not working at all

Greetings all,

I’m putting together my first site with the new 4.0.6 release and somehow the article_image tag doesn’t seem to want to work, or even give me even a broken link…. nothing at all is showing up. I’ve never run into a problem with Textpattern in that something just flat-out doesn’t work. I’m sure I must just be having a brain fart but I can’t figure it out.

So anyway here’s what’s going on…

I have my article tag on the page:
<txp:article limit="2" pgonly="0" section="sponsors" form="lp-sponsors-fp" />

I’ve got the form set up as an article form:
<txp:article_image thumbnail="1" />
<txp:excerpt />
<txp:permlink> more &raquo; </txp:permlink>

I’ve got the image ID set under “advanced options” in the article, the image is uploaded and the article has been saved to the correct section

all diagnostics pass

I also tried this with wet_article_thumb, and also with article_custom, with thumbnails and without, and get the same result: nothing.

What am I forgetting here? There’s gotta be some obvious thing I’m overlooking.
