prevent users deleting categories
hello
When I allow clients to access the Categories tab it often ends in tears – they’re prone to delete parent categories and lose all the sub-cats.
Is it possible to give a Txp user read & write access, but not allow them to delete anything – as is possible with articles?

In TXP 4.0.6, you cannot delete categories that are still in use by an article. Also, deleting a parent category should never result in the deletion of child categories (that would be a bug).

That is fabulous!!
If I understand you correctly, that means, I could put a dummy article set to hidden into each category to lock them all down?

Yes, that should work. Btw, this applies to pages and styles as well, those can’t be deleted either if they are still in use. For forms this safeguard isn’t implemented, because that’s non-trivial to implement.

That’s good to know. Were these safeguards just implemented in 4.0.6 or were any of them around in earlier versions?
What about image categories?
I make extensive use of them to build galleries and deleting any would be a real bummer.

It seems I spoke too soon and confused categories with sections.
I did add safeguards (in TXP 4.0.6) against accidental deletion of style sheets, pages and sections, but not for categories. I’ll try to add this in 4.0.7
