Displaying facebook status in txp.

I’m running a txp site for a friend of mine. He uses facebook for his events & promotions and has asked for his facebook status to be displayed on his website.

I’ve found the RSS feed from facebook, and using some yahoo pipe work (via Internet Duct Tape ) but i’ve not had much luck incorporating it into my txp.

I dont want it mixed in with the general posts.. I’d like it displayed in the sidebar.

Is there a quick & easy way to do this?

I’ve looked at various plugins including asv_tumblelog and the simplepie txp plugin, but i’ve not had much luck with simplepie. I can’t get it to work. I’ve stuck it in the correct directory but it’s still having trouble getting it to work!!!

Any help appreciated :)

Re: Displaying facebook status in txp.

the problem with the simplepie powered plugins which includes “bit_rss“http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?id=16794 is that they create a cache for the feeds in the site and that cache is what is used to display the feeds.

The way to go around it is to use a cron script to empty that cache once every 10 minutes or so. Not sure how happy your host will be with this though…
