Re: [feedback] How To Win Friends Who Love Desktop Blogging...

I’ve sat on the edge watching and am very grateful for the rapid progress made here.

One problem that has just been cleared for me (in 4.0.6) is the fact that uploading from Marsedit destroyed the ability to edit in Texpattern using Textile – seems to be working now.

I am probably being a bit thick here, but I cannot find how to set Keywords, only to check whether they have been set or not on upload – which is frustrating! (Maredit is set to use MT.)

Otherwise, I hope this can be extended in due course to allow me to edit the Article Image and Custom Fields :)

I don’t know if I’m understanding you right, but try using the menu and check “View -> Keyword Field”.

You know just sometimes… many thanks mapu. I think I must have gone temporarily blind!

Agreed that ability to edit Article Image and Custom Fields in MarsEdit would be met with wild cheering and clapping!

One thing I’ll add here, is supporting RSD will really help for configuration with clients such as MarsEdit:

I’m working on this, but I’ve yet to find a way to specify the RSD endpoint.

Typically, you would have RSD entries like that:

<apis>
<api name="Movable Type" blogID="1" preferred="true" apiLink="http://localhost/txp40/rpc"/>
<api name="MetaWeblog" blogID="1" preferred="false" apiLink="http://localhost/txp40/rpc"/>
<api name="Blogger" blogID="1" preferred="false" apiLink="http://localhost/txp40/rpc"/>
</apis>

Textpattern supports more than one blogID at the endpoint. Per spec, I could leave the blogID empty (blogID=""), but this causes hiccups in some clients.

How would MarsEdit handle this?

Wet,

Thanks for adding XML-RPC as part of the core and the new <txp:rsd /> tag.

Re: [feedback] How To Win Friends Who Love Desktop Blogging...

This is all very exciting indeed. I would of course love to see media uploading and control over article image would be neat. But I’m amazed at the progress this has made!

I am having one issue however, the same one NickCaldwell was having with categories: I assign one using MarsEdit but it doesn’t stick somehow. Any ideas? Would love to fix this as it’s my last little barrier to Desktop publishing goodness! For reference I’m using MarsEdit set with MT and running Textpattern 4.0.6.

Re: [feedback] How To Win Friends Who Love Desktop Blogging...

In fact to follow up to my last post, I also have the problem that if I do not specify a slug within MarsEdit the post will be displayed in a list but not as a single, this is remedied after editing the post via the web interface however. Isn’t this also a TXP 4.0.6 issue, may I have messed up my 4.0.6 upgrade? Any clues appreciated.

Re: [feedback] How To Win Friends Who Love Desktop Blogging...

Hey guys,

I have just been setting up XML-RPC for the first time, and I’ve been using Zoundry’s Raven to connect to it. I am on the v4.0.5 RPC that wet uploaded to a post in this thread. I have everything working except for one crucial thing. Raven will upload posts to the TXP Article collection, and I can see the article posted by Raven in the list, however when I am viewing the section on the real site (i.e. public users, using unedited default template) I do NOT see the article listed.

I can still access the article via its real URL (/index.php?id=2), but the TXP article_listing will not display it.

Any ideas? I LOVE this Raven app, and XML-RPC in TXP too!!

Thanks in advance!

George

What is the status (live, sticky, etc.) of the Raven-posted articles?
