One static_page

On my site I have created a section for the about page, as well as my archives, and contact page. The problem is, I have a footer on my site that has recent tags, and so on.

Is there any way to have one static_page page, and somehow use this to display my about page, archives, and contact page. I hate the fact that if i change something on my default page I must also change it on another page.

Thank you

Re: One static_page

If youre talking about what i think youre talking about..
the way i did it is i made a “static” page, kept the default page and made a “blog” page.
you do that by typing in the name “static” underneath the page section then CLICKING copy.

then you create sections for every kind of page you have.
about. services. contact. blog. whatever.
in each section you assign it to one of those pages you made above.

THEN in each article you assign the article to a specific section.

you may not need all those steps..

if youre problem is that youre having to update files for your footer then just put the footer in a form and replace each page footer with: txp:output_form form=“footer”.

im not totally sure what youre talking about though.

hope it helps.

Re: One static_page

very helpful, thank you very much! I am slowly learning all of the ins and outs of txp. Hopefully this continues to be an on going project. So far it is one of the best systems I have used. Confusing at times, but this confusion leads to an understanding of an extremely versatile program.

Re: One static_page

is there a way to “exclude” categories. with the way my archives page is setup i’d rather not have to “include” every category I want when I could just “exclude” one of them.

Re: One static_page

Where do you want to exclude categories? In the category menu or in the article list? And what tag(s) are you using to display the archive now?
