lam_browse_by (browse by category of articles/images/files in backend)
download here : lam_browse_by v0.1
had this idea a while ago but was reminded by this post
what it does
this plugin lets you browse your articles/images/files in admin backend by dropdowns of categories/sections applicable to that area…sort of(see caveats).
basically it just lists your relevant categories(and section for articles) and when you press go, it will use the built-in search for that particular category/section. saves you time from manually searching for what you need as well as gives you a reference in case you forget a certain category/section name.
caveats
the obvious problem with this is if you have two article categories that go by the names “test” and “test2”, then selecting “test” will also bring up articles in the “test2” category (as that is how the search function would pull up as well).
but hey better than nothing!

Steve, Great – that looks very useful. I’ve often wanted to be able to restrict the listing to certain sections.
Do you think this could be extended or modified to make a new tab that lists articles from a single section, or combination of sections? I’ve often wanted to be able to make it easier for site authors by having an “events” tab listing only article in the “events” section.

Looks great.
I think this should be in the core if it was modified slightly. Perhaps have it so only when the user selects search category (or section) a dropdown appears next to the text box showing a list of categories to search in. If the user enters no search term they just get a list of all articles in that category or section. Could also work with author and status.

Steve, maybe I’m a little OT but… The admin theme shown in the picture is beautiful. Do you know if it is possibile to download it somewhere?
Happily served with Txp: Strampelli.net, Brain Essence, NicolaTranfaglia.com…

And for clarify: I tried to seach from web, but it ended up showing anything about that theme. The only theme I did find was rip Hicks’ symphony kinda theme for Textpattern :)

its not that i dont want to release it or anything..but i just ported/converted it from symphony cms’s default theme. i can share it when symphony goes fully open source :P until then i don’t think i’m allowed to? (not sure how symphony folk would feel about it)
