redesigned - winnielim.com

Hi!

I’ve finally launched the redesign of my portfolio site winnielim.com .

Feedback is deeply appreciated before I “officially” launch the site. :D

Thanks in advance!

Re: redesigned - winnielim.com

I like the design, expect the centered emphased text in the sidebar.

There is also some validation faults, like open tags. Also, are you sure that the page’s main header, h1, should be “table of contents”? Althought you have two h1-tags, that is invalid too, also among words SEO. If we speak the truth, the page doesn’t’ even have a semastic model ;)

But I like the pinky-fresh look.

Cheers!

Re: redesigned - winnielim.com

i like it!

two things: i’d maybe narrow the featured work down a bit. now it’s two pages of featured work and three pages overall, might work better if it were just about one page (~5) of featured work. also: it might not be possible on your server configuration but clean urls would be nice!

Re: redesigned - winnielim.com

I like the clean look too. Very pleasing.

I did find a couple of broken links: the “hire me” sometimes gives a 404 as it goes to “/hireme” instead of “/hire-me“and the “background” link on the About page goes to http://192.168.1.108/2008/information/background which of course makes my browser cry :-)

But on the whole very impressive. Can I hire you to make my sites look good… :-p

Looks great in Firefox but not so great in Opera 8 or Opera 9. I’m with Bloke – come and add your graphical touches to my sites please!

Re: redesigned - winnielim.com

Thanks for all your feedback guys, really appreciate it. You have pointed out my broken links, errors, etc, which I have managed to rectify them very quickly before too many people discover them. :P

Gocom, I tried to make it as semantic as possible without having to modify plug-in code, etc, am always learning. The reason why I used h1 for table of contents was because I saw the site clearly divided into two columns and I treated the table of contents heading as the main heading on it’s own section. Not sure if it makes sense. :P I didn’t know there can be only one h1 tag, interesting, will go read up more. Thanks for pointing out the validation faults, now it validates xhtml strict perfectly. :)

Sven, I agree that featured work shouldn’t span multiple pages. I’ll try to pick an unlucky one out and leave it at 5. Actually clean urls are enabled on my server and textpattern but one of the plugins somehow generated messy url code instead, it’s now all clean – i think. Thanks!

Bloke/Stef, thanks for letting me know about the broken links, phew. Wouldn’t want any link to break when I eventually launch it.

Same amount of thanks goes to Zero – I think the layout should be fixed in Opera now.

Wow, lotsa fixing that I’ve missed out in my haste, thank you all for spending time to spot all these mistakes. :D

Bloke and Zero, will be glad to be of help if ever you should require! Zero, do let me know if you need help for TXPQ, I think textpattern is under appreciated and would love to do my bit. Somehow just don’t like wordpress as much. :P

Re: redesigned - winnielim.com

Hi Winnie, it’s looking great in Opera as well now :)

I was only joking about the graphical touches, but TXPQ is meant to be a community project and your input would be most welcome. If perhaps you can see a great way to improve it, let me know and I’ll send you login details. Gocom has also offered to help today too :-) It’s all happening! One way or another TXPQ is going to reflect the greatness of TXP and this community!
